Woodcroft Sports Parent Conduct Policy
Woodcroft Sports is a recreational basketball league with the mission to provide a positive environment where children can learn the game of basketball and compete in a fun, respectful way. The league ensures equal playing time for all participants, and coaches are required to adhere to this policy. We expect all coaches, players and parents to uphold the values of good sportsmanship.
As a parent or guardian, you play a crucial role in fostering a positive experience for your child. By participating in Woodcroft Sports, you agree to the following:
Parent Code of Conduct:
1) Positive Role Model: I will lead by example, showing respect and support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game and practice.
2) Respect for Others: I will ensure that my child treats others with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
3) Respect for Officials: I will respect the decisions of the officials and refrain from making negative comments.
4) Youth-Centered Focus: I understand that the game is for children, not adults, and will prioritize my child’s enjoyment over competition.
5) Knowledge of the Game: I will learn the rules of basketball and the policies of the league to better support my child and my team.
6) Health & Safety: I will inform the coach of any physical limitations that could affect the safety of my child or others.
7) Coach Communication: I will be responsive to my child’s coach and communicate openly about any concerns.
8) Health-Conscious Support: I will not encourage any behaviors that may endanger the well-being of the athletes.
9) Drug-Free Environment: I will demand an environment free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
10) Sideline Coaching: I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am an official coach of the team.
11) Encouragement Over Winning: I will praise my child for their best efforts, regardless of the outcome, and ensure they always feel valued for trying their best.
12) Responsible for Guests: I will ensure that any family members or guests attending games follow the same behavior expectations.
13) Reporting Misconduct: I will notify the league if I observe any inappropriate behavior from coaches, parents, or spectators that is detrimental to children’s well-being.
14) Venue Rules: I will adhere to the rules and safety regulations of all game and practice venues.
15) Consequences of Misconduct: I understand that failure to abide by these rules or venue regulations may result in suspension or expulsion from the league, with no refund of fees paid.
By following this code of conduct, parents and guardians ensure that every player enjoys a safe, positive, and supportive basketball experience.
